Youth Group

As the Youth Group Committee of 2008, we are honoured to work with not only each other, but also with the up and coming youth of what we are proud to call our Mar Thoma community. We started off this year with a motivating initiative that identified the Youth Group as a significant element of the church. Our mission this year as an entire Youth Group is to engage together our youth of all ages, whether new or old, or male or female, in fellowship with each other and fellowship with Christ. We hope that together, we can not only grow in strength, but also in individual and collective faith.

In support of this long term goal, we are proud to call ourselves 'AWAKE Youth'. Using Ephesians 5:14 (For it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: 'Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you'.) as inspiration, 'AWAKE' for us means not only the beginning of a new year, but a new way of thinking and a new means for us to live, worship and gather together in Christ. We are constantly seeing new faces in our youth group and one of our goals is to engage these youth so that they become part of a greater fellowship and friendship. As the youth of today are the church of tomorrow, we want to use our youth fellowship as an avenue through which we can find the answers to our questions, pray for those in need, sing, as well as glorify and praise God through our praise and worship sessions, and ultimately find true faith in God. We hope to build leaders among ourselves for the youth of the future, by cultivating not only our faith and confidence, but also by building our relationships with God and our reliance on Him.

As a Committee we want to officially welcome all youth and ask for your participation in youth events so that our goals and the goals that we build with God's guidance are fulfilled. Look forward this year to monthly fun-filled Prayer Meetings, Fellowship and Outreach days, as well as Semi-formal, May and Winter Retreats, Kidsfest, Picnics and much more! Our prayer meetings have been amazing successes so far, and as a committee we are incredibly glad to see our youth engaged in God's greater purpose and hope for the same in the months to come.
