Edavaka Mission

The St. Mathew's Mar Thoma Church Edavaka Mission has resumed its activities this year right from the beginning of January, and has been meeting regularly for the weekly prayer meetings during the last quarter, in members' homes. These meetings are held on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00, and give us an opportunity to spend time in singing, Bible reading, intercessory prayers, and Bible Study on specific portions of the Bible, currently focussing on the Gospels, usually led by our Vicar. Mr. Sunny Maliacal who has been routinely leading the Bible study was away in India for most of this quarter. The spring monthly schedule is shown in the table alongside, and all parish members are cordially invited to join the Edavaka Mission and attend these weekly meetings.

Our focus this year is to increase participation of families in the Edavaka Mission. We routinely hold the weekly meetings for a month at one members' home. However, we plan to hold a prayer meeting once a month at other parish members' homes, who may wish to host such a meeting. The intention is for the Edavaka Mission to meet and hold intercessory prayers at the homes of members who may be ill or going through some bereavement in their family circle. Anyone who wishes to host such a prayer meeting is encouraged to contact the Edavaka Mission Secretary.

The Edavaka Mission this year too plans to support the activities of one or more mission projects in India, and some local charities too. There is also a plan to continually support at least one Evangelist in a Mission field in India, details of which are yet to be decided.

We give thanks to our Almighty God for paving the way for us to build our own church, and bringing us one step closer to this cherished goal, with the zoning approval we were seeking and praying for as a parish for a long time now. We continue to pray and hope for the fulfillment of our goal soon, and also ask each and every member of our parish to do the same.
