Sunday School |
The Sunday school Term 1 examination for all classes was held on January 7, 2007. Term 2 classes of the academic year 2006 - 2007 began on January 14th 2007 and a parent - Teacher meeting was also held on the same day after the Holy Communion Service. During our Diocesan Bishop's visit in January, Sunday school teachers and volunteers met Thirumeni. We had a short discussion on Sunday school activities, issues and concerns. Thirumeni emphasized that as teachers and volunteers, we have to be committed ourselves to make our children understand that "Jesus is our personal saviour". This year, our Sunday school organized a one day retreat for our students on March 10th at Grace United Church Brampton. We had a total registration of 75 students and 35 volunteers. Students in the age group of 3 to 17 attended the retreat. The students were divided into two main groups - children from as young as 3 to 12 years and the older children from 13 to 17 years. The program started with a "sing-a-long" session led by Mrs. Vinitha Abraham and her team. The theme for the junior students was "Body Builder's Holyday Club". The program was led by Mr. Dan Ryan, a former member of Union Canada's children Ministry with the help of 11 volunteers from our Sunday school. Our children had lots of fun but through different fun activities they learned that "Jesus Loves You" no matter who you are. The morning session for teenagers was led by Mr. Suraj George, a member of Canadian Marthoma church and a final year student of Theological studies at Tyndale Bible College, Toronto. The afternoon sessions were lead by Mr. Jason John and Miss. Seena Koshy of our own church. The topic was "Practical Christian Living". The students participated actively in the group discussions. The program coordinated by Mrs. Susan Verghese (Prema) and assisted by many of our youth was very interesting and fun filled. As usual, the Sunday School Common session start at 12:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary on all Sundays followed by the classes at 12:50 p.m. every Sunday. We encourage all parents to bring the children in time for the common session and there after for the Sunday school classes. Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
The annual Diocesan examination for grades 5 to 10 will be held on May 6th Sunday. All students in grades 5 to 10 are encouraged to participate in the Diocesan examination, which is organized by the Diocese of North America and Europe. The examination provides a unique opportunity for the students to obtain a greater understanding of the Bible topics they have learned in Sunday school during the year and apply the Biblical truths in their day-to-day life and be a witness to the community they live in. The term 2 test for the grades 1 to 4 will be held on May 13th, Sunday. Sunday school classes are open to students in the age group 3 to 17 years.
